Rebates
reduce the cost to you, and the planet
What are rebates?
State & national government rebate schemes are designed to lower carbon emissions and accelerate Australia’s transition towards net zero by 2050.
They provide financial incentives to home and business owners to encourage the use of energy efficient technologies.

Who gets rebates? And how?

Evaluation
Government bodies, both National and state, assess the performance of products and allocate certificates (which later become rebates), according to their efficiency.

Certification
Certified installers claim the certificates and convert them into cost savings (rebates) that they pass on to the end-customer, when they install the product into their home or business. In some instances, there can be more rebates on offer when replacing an older, less efficient product.

Implementation
This enables more people to implement energy efficiency products, at a lower price point, and contribute to Australia’s sustainability goals.
Rebates, state by state
Wondering what rebates you could be eligible for in your state? Check out our chart below, it outlines the available energy saving schemes based on where you live. To note there are some factors that could affect this, for example whether you’re replacing an older model or installing new.
The most important thing to remember it, that not all energy efficient products are created equal. Some solutions will receive more rebates than others due to their higher efficiency rating. It is also essential to use an accredited installer—they’ll handle the rebate claims on your behalf, ensuring you receive the savings you’re entitled to.

Emerald is the manufacturer and supplier of the Electricity Advisor. Accredited Provider companies purchase these products from emerald and then manage the installation process.
An Accredited Provider is a company that has received accreditation through a nationally recognised Incentive.
Many Accredited Providers operate across VIC, and as a consumer, you should be given all information regarding the attending Accredited Provider company, including the installer's contact information.
You should receive all relevant information upon installation, and if you have any concerns, please feel free to contact emerald on our support form.
You can also find out more information about how the Accredited Providers operate in Victoria using the link below:
The Victorian Government incentivised the Electricity Advisor as a free device, in line with the VEU (Victorian Energy Upgrades Commission) - These were installed by Accredited Providers who are separate entities from Emerald. The range of Emerald products that we offer are paid-for products.
The various state incentives are always adding new activities to help consumers reduce energy costs and incentivise home efficiency.
An accredited provider is an organisation or individual that has met certain standards and requirements set by an accrediting body. Accreditation is a process by which an organisation or individual is evaluated and certified as meeting specific standards of quality and performance. Accreditation is often required by regulatory agencies or professional organizations in order to participate in certain programs or activities.
Accreditation is important because it provides assurance to the public that the organisation or individual has met certain standards and is committed to maintaining them and also can be used for the purpose of accepting credits or degrees from those institutions.
In relation to the Victorian and New South Wales Energy Efficiency Incentives; Accredited Providers are companies that can create and register Energy saving certificates in-line with the various State Government run Energy incentives.
You may have been contacted directly by an Accredited Provider to have your Electricity Advisor installed.
Emerald manufactures and supplies our products to various Accredited Provider companies across the State run Incentives. Accredited Provider companies purchase these products from Emerald and then organise the installation.
The Electricity Advisor is incentivised as a part of these Energy Saving activities in Victoria.
We provide Accredited Provider companies with comprehensive training to install the Electricity Advisor responsibly. However, we do not have control over the installers used by these companies. Please note, installers do not need a trade (electrician) license to install an In-Home Display device (Electricity Advisor), regulated by the Energy Savers Commission.
